Dr. Fatemeh Mahvan earned her Ph.D in Persian Language and Literature from Ferdowsi University (2016). She successfully completed a postdoc project under the title: Encyclopedia of Ferdowsi and Shahname. Mahvan has been fortunate to spend 1 year sabbatical at Cambridge and Leiden universities where she was able to cooperate with “Shahname Project” (2013- 2014). This resulted in the start of a relevant project titled “Illustrated Epics following the Shahname (2017- 2019).

She has won numerous awards include: BA student award (2007), student research award (2014) and highest- ranking student in a Ph.D graduating class (2016). Both her MA thesis and Ph.D dissertation won several awards such as “Ferdowsi award” (2012), “Parvin Etesami award” (2013) and “The 10th Farabi International award on the Iranian and Islamic Studies” (2019). So, she was granted a membership in “National Elite Foundation”. Also, regard to her teaching background, she won “teaching award” for two times (2020 and 2021).

Mahvan main research interests are Shahname of Ferdowsi, interdisciplinary study of Persian painting and literature, text-image studies of Persian manuscripts and women’s studies.

She has published 3 books, about 50 articles and book chapters and present more than 30 article in national and international conferences.
